Faithfulness!
This is what God had called His people to, but faithfulness was missing in Jerusalem. That’s why Daniel and his 3 friends had been captured and taken to Babylon.
The first city of Babylon, the “Tower of Babel”, was built after the great flood. Instead of listening to the voice of the Lord, and occupying the whole earth, they gathered together and built a city. They did not trust what God had said, that He would not send another worldwide flood. Since then, "Babylon" has become the term in the Bible for neglect of what God has said, and to put something else in its place, and create religious confusion.
The book of Daniel is a prophetic book, it is about the “end time”. There's a lot in the book of Daniel that is a warning to us today! The time prophecies in Daniel's book are about when things will happen! The stories say something about how and why!
Daniel shows us the necessity of deciding not to defile ourselves! We will need all the wisdom and spiritual guidance God can give us! We need to renew our complete surrender to God! We should not compromise with the spirit of the times, or with the paganism of our time!
We must make an active choice not to defile ourselves! It is a lot about what we choose to “eat” from our TV or computer screens! We must choose to listen to what God has said through His prophets!
So we will be ready ‘At The End Of The Days’.
